Winter Season Resumes Today & Game Schedules for Week One!

Winter Practice Schedule Resumes Tuesday, January 6th

Happy New Year! The winter season practice schedule resumes Tuesday, January 6th. We’re excited to see everyone back out on the fields!

More exciting news, Vikings winter games kick-off this Saturday, January 10th!

Please note, no games next Saturday, January 17th. Games every Saturday, January 24th – February 21st.

Girls’ Games on Saturday, January 10th @ Airport Park in Santa Monica

K/1 at 9am
2nd at 10:15am
3/4 at 10am
5/6 at 8:45am
7/8 at 11am

K-2 should arrive 30 mins early for warm up.
3-8 should arrive 45 mins early for warm up.

Uniform orders can be picked up at Airport Park before games this Saturday.

Every Saturday, from January 24th through February 21st,
girls’ games will be played at Airport Park at the same time for each division:
K/1 at 9am
2nd at 10:15am
3/4 at 9am
5/6 at 10am
7/8 at 11am

Girls’ games will be played through the SMVYL WESTSIDE SIXES league. This format improves coaches’ ability to give feedback while in game situations and ensure that players of all levels are involved and appropriately challenged.

Boys’ Games on Saturday, January 10th @ Belmar Park in Santa Monica

K/1 at 8am – North
1/2 at 8am – South
3/4 Black at 9am – North
3/4 Gold at 9am – South
5/6 Gold at 10am – North
5/6 Black at 10am – South
7/8 at 11am

Coaches will determine team rosters at this weeks practices.
Players should arrive 30 mins early for warm up.
Uniform orders can be picked up at Belmar Park before games this Saturday.

Boys’ games will be played in the LAYLL WINTER SIXES league. Game schedule and locations will be sent weekly.

There is still time to register for the Vikings winter season!

Any friends interested in lacrosse? Players are welcome to bring friends for a trial practice or two. Loaner gear is available for trial practices. No experience needed.

Competition for the winter season will be a modified game format known as SIXES. SIXES is a small sided, fast paced and fun version of the traditional game played on a short field. It is exceptional for skill development due to the high volume of reps and touches inherent in the format. SIXES is also the game format that will be included in the 2028 OLYMPIC GAMES in Los Angeles.

Registration is Open for the ’25/’26 Winter Season!

We are thrilled to announce that Vikings Winter 2025-26 Season is now open!

Practices will begin on Tuesday, December 2nd.

We will host teams in the following divisions as defined by current school grade:

BOYS: K-2; 3/4; 5/6; 7/8
GIRLS: K-2; 3/4; 5/6; 7/8

Competition for Winter Season will be a modified game format known as SIXES. SIXES is a small sided, fast paced and fun version of the traditional game played on a short field. It is exceptional for skill development due to the high volume of reps and touches inherent in the format. SIXES is also the game format that will be included in the 2028 OLYMPIC GAMES in Los Angeles.

Boys games will be played in the LAYLL WINTER SIXES league.

Girls games will be played internally through SMVYL WESTSIDE SIXES league.This format improves coaches ability to give feedback while in game situations and ensure that players of all levels are involved and appropriately challenged. Winter SIXES is a more relaxed and fun lead up into Spring Season.

PRACTICES

Practices will be at Airport Park in Santa Monica 5:30-7:00 PM.

BOYS K-2 – Thursdays Airport Park

GIRLS K-2 – Tuesdays Airport Park

BOYS 3/4 – Tuesdays & Thursdays Airport Park

BOYS 5/6 & 7/8 – Wednesdays & Fridays Airport Park

GIRLS 3/4, 5/6 & 7/8 GMS – Tuesdays & Thursdays Airport Park

The first week of practices will start Tuesday, December 2.

There will be no practices Tuesday, December 23 – Friday, January 2.

GAMES

Games for all boys and girls teams will start on Saturday, January 11th.

No games on Saturday, January 17th.

Games will continue every week from Saturday, January 24th through February 21st.

Boys games will be played locally at the following fields: Santa Monica HS, Belmar, & Campus El Segundo. Schedules, times and locations will be provided to us by the LAYLL WINTER SIXES league.

Girls games will be played on Saturdays at the same time for each division exclusively at Airport Park. Schedule will be provided prior to the start of the season.

Westside Sixes

Vikings Families!

The start of our winter Vikings lacrosse season is upon us. This winter, we are excited to run the winter league in house.

In cooperation with our partners at Dragons, Vikings will be managing the Westside Sixes lacrosse season.

Games will begin Saturday, January 20th and continue through the weekend of February 24.

Sixes is an exciting variation on our beloved game and is picking up a lot of supporters and participants because it is the format that will be played in the 2028 Olympic games.

The Westside Sixes winter league will be a fun, developmentally structured season designed to provide each athlete with the greatest opportunity to advance their skill set from beginners to advanced players.

We are excited to welcome you back onto our fields for an exciting and productive winter season that will prepare our kids for a competitive spring season. The spring season will be a return to the traditional format of lacrosse and we are confident that a winter season of sixes will prepare all of our players for growth.
